“For the last twenty-two years, I’ve been a Financial Professional, helping clients prepare budgets, and plan to reach their goals in retirement. I’ll bring that same sensibility with me as commissioner.”
– Aaron Lehman
Aaron Lehman is a community leader from Homer City. He’s lived in Indiana County for thirty-two years. After graduating from IUP with a degree in education, he chose to raise his family in Homer City. He’s proud of the work he’s done in combatting homelessness for families with young children, starting the Homer City Community Garden and Learning Center, and working on local parks. Lehman is ready to work together with other public figures to get stuff done. He believes our people need results, not just talk.
Lehman serves as the president of Homer-Center Parks and Recreation, where he has overseen the upgrade of playground equipment at three local parks, the addition of ADA-compliant bathrooms at the pool, applied and received a grant to replace the pool liner, established the Homer City Community Garden and Learning Center, and ensured improvements to the tennis and basketball courts.
He also serves as vice-president of Family Promise of Indiana. Through his work at Family Promise he has been able to help homeless families to bring dignity back into their lives. This is done through education and providing practical opportunities for families to use their new knowledge and skills. Families have access to a store where they can purchase items that food stamps won’t cover, like shampoo, soap, and laundry detergent. Family Promise’s mission is to help homeless families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. Family Promise has an 82% success rate, largely due to the emphasis on stability and education.
Professionally, Aaron has worked as a Financial Professional for the past twenty-two years. He has helped clients prepare budgets and develop plans to reach their retirement goals. Lehman intends to bring that sensibility to a role as commissioner.
He believes in the inherent worth and dignity of every person and justice, equity, and compassion for people. He looks for the good in everyone. Although there are times he disagrees with people, he promises to listen. He has an open-door policy and encourages people to reach out to him with anything. He promises to be a commissioner for all of Indiana County.
Aaron believes we need to work together to get stuff done for all of the hard working residents of Indiana County.
